VOLUME 2 ISSUE 2                                                                                                                         FEBRUARY, 2010

This month is Black History month and the month of love (Valentine’s Day).  Here in Houston, it is also Rodeo time and time for the Fall Carnival; how exciting!  KRB would like to take the time to wish all of you a very happy Valentine’s Day!

IT Tip Of The Month

This month we will share ways to help you save space on your hard drive.  You may already know this, but when you add new software to your system you are given a choice as to what to add and where to add it.  This is really the case when you are adding suites like Microsoft Office which includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.  Did you know when you add this software to your system you do not have to add all the programs?  Also, many of the software programs we purchase come with add-in software, from third party suppliers that have partnered with the company that produces our needed software, but if you know you are not going to use these things you do not have to add them to your system.  The more software you have on your system, the more space is used, causing your system to run slower.

Just to piggy-back on last month’s issue, remember to clean up your system regularly and remove any old software that you're not using on a regular basis.  On a personal note, the tips I am sharing with you are not just ideas from me; they are strategies that have allowed me to operate using the same system for over five (5) years - crash free - by just taking the extra steps in running regular virus scans and doing regular maintenance.  We have invested so much into these systems; why not take care of them?  A few minutes now, less heart ache later!

Keeping a check up on your system will aid you in having a healthy system.  We are good at keeping our personal health in check, so let’s get better at keeping our electronics in good health, too.
